Instructor Yvonne Theberge began Taekwondo at the age of 11 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, under Master Sang Lee. She moved to California's Bay Area at the age of 12 and continued to practice under Master Sim. About a year and a half later she moved to Florida as a red belt. She earned her Junior Black Belt at 14, and became seriously interested in competing. 

Yvonne started sparring in the adult division and by 15 had worked her way up to International competion. She went on to make both Junior and Senior National Teams, which enabled her to travel and fight an array of athletes. At 17 she was chosen to become an Olympic Resident Athlete at the Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado Springs.. She trained/lived in Seoul, Korea for about a month and a half before she began her training at OTC. 

In the summer of 1999 she had to move back to Florida due to an injury, and did not compete again until 2001 at the CISM (Military Games) in the Netherlands. In 2003 she moved to San Francisco and began teaching to pass on her knowledge to future athletes.
